Although most REALTORS are knowledgeable about protected classes, and the adverse actions that constitute fair housing violations, it is often subtle practices that invite fair housing liability that are often overlooked.
The GMAR is presenting this one-hour tune up on Fair Housing on Thursday, April 10th at 10:00 AM. Special guest presenter will be Alexia Smokler, an attorney and serves as staff executive to NAR’s Fair Housing Policy Committee and writes and speaks regularly on fair housing issues to audiences around the country. She led the development of Fairhaven: A Fair Housing Simulation, and Bias Override: Overcoming Barriers to Fair Housing. Before joining NAR, Alexia worked in fair housing enforcement at HUD, on the staff of Congressman John Conyers, Jr., and with nonprofit civil rights organizations. The conversation will focus on the often overlooked areas of Fair Housing concerns such as marketing practices and implicit bias.
All GMAR members are invited to attend the Fair Housing Tune-up presentation. To attend, please register in advance using the link below
